We have become aware of Matt and his work through his co-authorship of the critically important and valuable article “Marketing Ideas: How to Write Research Articles that Readers Understand and Cite”. Matt completed his PhD at University of Arizona in 2021, and will start teaching as an assistant professor at Utah Valley University in Fall 2022. His previous academic steps include his BA at Lambuth University, his MBA at University of Memphis.

While discussing the subject, Matt provided valuable and encouraging perspectives on students’ ability to leave a mark with their final academic project work. This would not even require for the work to become widely known and highly regarded, but it may already be reached if this work helped the student to reach a new perspective, a new insight into the investigated matter. Helping students reach their project goals means to him, as a supervisor, to leave a mark by helping his students. Matt shared many helpful and actionable approaches to get going in academic writing and in thinking usefully about the individual steps on the proverbial ladder of the common academic writing structure.
